FIRST POST NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2010
PRESENTATION NIGHT
As you are aware the theme for the Presentation Night is Pink, as October is Cancer Awareness month.
There will be collection points available for any surplus clothes, shoes, bric a brac etc you may have. This can be brought along on the night. Also collection boxes will be available around the room for any loose change you may have.
Can all teams please supply a raffle prize either let one of the Committee have this or bring along on the night.
Tickets are available from Jan at the Nelson, £5.00, please buy these as soon as possible from Jan Tel: 07999 655550.
AGM
The AGM will be held on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 7 30 pm in the Nelson.
Proposal for rule/constitution change are as follows:
1. No half rounder rule/ Get rid of 36 balls
2. Revert to 30 good balls
3. Semi finals of the cup to be played on a Thursday evening, final to be played on a Sunday afternoon.
4. Proposed that the game is ended after a winning innings is completed. The rounders scored will only be counted from the first innings.
5. It is proposed that the Constitution be changed regarding Committee Members. Committee Members who miss 3 consecutive meetings are automatically removed from the Committee unless they can justify their absence.
6. It is proposed that Division 1 and 2 discontinue with the 36 ball rule and revert to the old rules and Division 3 keep the 36 ball rule.
7. It is proposed that the League membership fee is increased to £50.00 per team, as this would give the League a good start to the season, especially when the commitment to tournaments and other social events is poor.
Several other proposals/suggestions were put forward but they were not a rule change.
These suggestions will be addressed at the AGM.
If you want to voice your opinion on these changes, then you must attend the meeting. Proxy votes will be accepted, but only up until Tuesday 16 November. These must be in writing. Any others after this date will not be accepted.
200 Club
The draw for the 200 Club for September was as follows:
£50.00 Ticket 188 Nicola Faulkner
£25.00 Ticket 7 Mrs I Marlow
£15.00 Ticket 111 Louise Morris
£10.00 Ticket 30 Kate Varnsverry

FIRST POST NEWSLETTER JULY 2010
FIRST POST NEWSLETTER
Dear Captains,
Well we are now about half way through the season and the weather has been good to us. Please take note of the forthcoming events and make sure that you forward the information on to your players or even better print this sheet off and hand it round to them.
QUIZ NIGHT
There will be a Quiz Night on Thursday 22nd July – You may already have received a “Flyer” about this, but as a reminder it starts at 7.30pm at The Nelson (top room). Teams of up to 4 players £3 per head including snacks. Please contact Jan if you wish to enter a team. The League needs you to support it, so please do your best to attend. Friends are invited (You don’t have to be a Rounders player to be part of a team). Also Raffle prizes would be very much appreciated. Thankyou!
MIXED TOURNAMENT
We are hoping to hold this on Saturday 7th August at Husbands Bosworth ground. More information and entry forms to follow. Please put this date in your calendar.
UMPIRING
Just a few comments to make on Umpiring – Please note that if a player steps into a ball it is NOT a no-ball. If a player tries to backhand a ball down the line and they miss it, very often the ball will hit them. This is classed as walking into a ball in the same way as stepping into a ball in the normal way.
Also please take note that you shouldn’t call “Backward Hit” until the ball has actually landed!!
PITCHES
Please can everyone that doesn’t have their ground at the Leisure Centre make sure that their pitch is marked to the correct dimensions as some of the teams have noticed that some pitches are being marked incorrectly. Make sure that the batting and bowling squares in particular are large enough. Also if there is an obstructed area behind the backward area (eg close to gate or hedge) make sure that both Captains agree with the Umpires to make this a VOID ball if it goes behind and is missed by the batsman.
AGM
I know that it seems quite a long way off to this event, but any Proposals for Rule changes or constitution changes need to be given into the Committee before September 1st. Any proposals after this date will not be considered so start getting your thinking caps on. However please don’t propose any changes for the sake of it – we need to improve where we can but not change what is working. Thanks!
