FIRST POST NEWSLETTER - JUNE 2009

Well the season is now well underway and I hope that everyone is enjoying their games and feeling fitter into the bargain.

RULES
Some teams believe that a game ends when a team has won.
Just to remind you all that a game consists of 2 full innings of 30 balls, and that the game will continue to the end of both innings regardless of when a team has won, unless the winning team captain decides to declare.

NO- BALLS

Umpires – Please note that you only mark off “Good Balls” from the 30 balls and not “all balls”. It is important that you know what signifies a “No-ball” e.g. Above the head, below the knee – and that a wide is wider than the normal reach of the batsman and that a body ball is one that hits or would hit a batsman. To get the correct clarification of this PLEASE READ THE RULE BOOK (page 27 section B).

EQUIPMENT

New aluminium bats can be purchased from Audrey Marlow at a cost of £30.
Rule Books can be purchased from Jan for a £1 discount. They normally cost £5 and there are a few left at £4.

GET WELL WISHES

On behalf of The Committee we would like to send our Get Well wishes to Pam Sutton, who has recently broken her leg. We wish her a speedy recovery!

FIRST POST NEWSLETTER MAY 2009

Amendments

The e-mail number for Audrey Marlow is incorrect. It should read .co.uk NOT .com

Captain of Arthingworth is now Wendy Hayward

Match Information

Please note that Umpires must fill in the time the game started and if late the reason why.

Please can Captains check that the Umpires know to count the 30 balls and also that it is only GOOD balls that are counted.

If a match is cancelled for any reason the Captain must inform Linzi by telephone and not by e-mail.

Will all Captains make sure that the Registration numbers and names are on the team sheet.

All score sheets must be signed on both sides by both umpires and the Rounders must be totalled. If this is omitted it makes Linzi’s job more difficult.

Please note:- If a registration number has not been used (ie the person has not been named on a score sheet) that number can be transferred to another player, but please inform Nessa of the change.

Presentation Night

The tickets for Presentation Night are now available.

Handbook amendments

Dear Captains / Secretary

Please note that the Handbook was not updated with the new Arthingworth Captain

It should read
Wendy Hayward

I have noticed that Shire Press did not typeset in the telephone number for the Treasurer.
Please add to your handbooks Rosemary Clegg's home number

Plus they typed in Jan Lally's correct email address on first page of Handbook but in the club directory they missed out the second 'l' in Jan's surname.

Linzi's address

Please amend these with immediate effect

Many thanks
Louise Wiltshire

FIRST POST NEWSLETTER APRIL 2009

The Rounders Season is almost here and I hope you’ve been out there training. Lets hope the sun shines on us this year and that we have good weather.

The HANDBOOKS should be with you shortly as will the new Score sheets. Don’t forget to check when and where you’re umpiring and most of all remember that you may be umpiring “Cup Matches” too. Some of these are during the first week (week commencing Mon 11th May).

RULES
Most of you are aware of the new Rules but just to remind you they are as follows:-

1. The Half Rounder Rule will continue in all games.

2. There will be 2 innings of “30 Good Balls” in each game and there does not have to be a change of Bowler in League matches.

UMPIRING

When umpiring please make sure that Players Player goes on the side of the sheet that their batting name appears.
The new Score sheets will include the number of balls at the bottom of the sheet. It is a good idea to mark them off by starting at 30.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Just to let you know that Jan Lally (our Chairperson) has invited any teams back to The Nelson after their matches and that she will prepare them “CHIPS” for £2.50 per team. Can’t be bad!!!!!!

QUIZ NIGHT

Kara Badger is hosting a Quiz Night on Wed 27th May at The Nelson. Teams will consist of “4 players” and it will cost £2.50 each including food. It is also requested that each team bring a raffle prize as a raffle will be held on the night. All friends are welcome. Put this date in your diary and if interested please contact Kara.

PRESENTATION NIGHT

This might seem a long way off but tickets are already printed and this year it will be held at The Rugby Club on 30th October. Don’t be put off by last year as this one’s going to be “Good!” It will be a Halloween Night so lets all dress up and spook each other out.
